The Parks and Recreation Department will host a 4th of July celebration called “Patriotic Picnic in the Park” on Thursday, July 4 beginning at 6:00 p.m. until dark.

The free event, held at Veterans Memorial Park on Floyd Mayfield Drive off of Murfreesboro Road, will feature a bounce house for children and other games. Additionally vendors will be on-hand to sell hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, drinks, shaved ice, and ice cream.

There will be a free concert. The fireworks display will start at dusk.

“Picnic in the Park last year was AMAZING,” said Mayor Senna Mosley.  “La Vergne is so much more than just a bedroom community. It is one in which families, friends, and neighbors can celebrate important holidays together in the comfort of our own town.  We hope our citizens bring a blanket and lawn chairs, listen or sing along to some great music, and watch the spectacular professional fireworks show in the spirit of friendship and community.”
